Weekly Happenings
Two days ago marked the 10th Anniversary of the loss of the crew of the space shuttle Columbia. I remember that day, Saturday morning, clear and cool. We were actually watching the local news, waiting to see the landing. I’ve never seen a shuttle landing, live on tv, so I was very excited. The time for the landing came and went, and no shuttle. I remember the concern starting to show on the newscasters faces, and then the announcement that NASA was going into their contingency mode. From excitement to sadness and grief so quickly. I remember President Bush giving a short, eloquent speech later that day commemorating the event and the lives of the brave souls on board the shuttle that day. If you get a chance, I would recommend reading “Comm Check..The Final Flight of Shuttle Columbia”, by Michael Cabbage and William Hardwood. An excellent accounting of that day, events from months and years previous leading up to that day and lastly, an accounting of what was going on in the Shuttle during those last moments. An Amazing read.

I-4 Women Roar Event
If you missed the I-4 Women Roar event on Saturday Jan 21, 2012, you missed an exciting, inspiring day!! The Event was hosted by NORWF, along with the Winter Park Republican Women’s Club Federated. This was a first of a kind event, and the largest ever hosted by our Club. The event Co-chairs, Sharon Rousey, from NORWF and Susan Burrow from WPRWF, did a truly outstanding and amazing job of bringing together Womens clubs, Tea party organizations and conservative clubs from all over Central Florida, to show what we can accomplish when we all work together!! The event actually sold out, as we had plenty of people showing up at the door!!
Special speakers included Sharon Day, RNC Co-chair, Cindy Graves, President of FFRW and a very special appearance by Congresswoman Sandy Adams, who flew in from Washington just for this event!! All three women gave rousing speeches that ignited the crowd of almost 200 women and men. These three women are true patriots who have dedicated themselves to defeating Obama and the Liberal Socialist agenda he and his minions are determined to set for this Nation. We can all take a lesson from these three courageous women.
Other speakers included Blaize Ignoglia, RPOF vice-chair, Lew Oliver, OCREC chair and Al Schwarz, SCREC chair. Each of the Presidential candidates (except Ron Paul) was represented by campaign surrogates who were allowed to speak for up to 5 minutes each. Other local candidates and organizations purchased display tables. And there was a spectacular array of gift baskets and Silent Auction items available for raffle and bid.
This was indeed a day to remember and definitely was a GREAT way to kick off the Campaign 2012 season. As I write this, the Florida Presidential Primary in only days away, and each of us has a very difficult decision ahead of us. We cannot let the liberal media set our agendas for us. Listen to the candidates, visit their websites, like them on facebook, talk to their supporters. I-4 Women Roar showed us that, as women, we ARE empowered and MUST do all we can to work together to save this beloved Nation of ours!! We are women of ACTION and we are truly making a difference!!
Happy New Year
NORWF is planning a number of election year activities, the first being the I-4 Women Roar event. This event is unique in that it will bring together a number of Central Florida Republican Clubs and Tea Party organizations. We will join together to kick off the 2012 Political Season. The Republican Presidential campaigns have been invited to the January 21’st brunch, hosted by our club, along with Republican leaders from across the State, along with a number of candidates. It will be held at the Altamonte Spring Hilton, 350 North Lake Blve, Altamonte Springs, FL, with doors opening at 10:30. There will be plenty of hobnob opportunities.. This is an event you WILL NOT WANT TO MISS.
Our exciting keynote speaker will be Stephen K. Bannon, writer and director of the moving documentary, “Fire from the Heartland”. This is the first film ever to tell the story of the conservative woman, in her own words, from the founding mothers of our Republic to some of the most powerful and influential women of our time.
Right now, we are offering tables, or single seating for the event. Go to i4womenroar.eventbrite.com to register and find out more about this event.
There is much work to be done, and Central Florida’s Republican clubs along with our coalition family of Tea Party organizations are ready to get to work, because as we all know.. WHEN WOMEN WORK.. WE ALL WIN!!!
See ya there!!!!
